History
The history of the Bishop John Aelen Province is a testament to structural growth and a deep commitment to the congregation’s charism. Here is a refined and professional version of these historical milestones, organized for clarity and official documentation.
The Evolution of Governance – Bishop John Aelen Province
Phase I: Regional Governance (1999)
On June 15, 1999, the General Council took a landmark step toward administrative efficiency by introducing Regional Governance. Initiated by Mother Mary Venantia, the then Superior General, this transition aimed to better support the sisters in their spiritual, apostolic, and community lives. By demarcating communities into regions, the congregation ensured that its core spirit and charism were more effectively nurtured at the local level.
Phase II: Transition to Province Status (2005)
In 2005, the growing regions were elevated into three distinct provinces. The southern sector was named the Bishop John Aelen Province, a title chosen to honor the legacy of the congregation's founding father. This period marked the formal beginning of the province's independent administrative journey.
The Provincialate: A Journey of Place and Purpose
The seat of provincial leadership has moved strategically over the years to better serve the mission:
2010: The Provincialate was initially relocated to Nochiodaipatti, Dindigul, nestled near the Sirumalai Hills, focusing on pastoral and social outreach.
June 13, 2013: The administration returned to the heart of Trichy, establishing its permanent home in Karumandapam.
Current Location:
Today, the Bishop John Aelen Provincialate is situated on Alpha Nagar Second Street, Karumandapam, Tiruchirappalli. Located along the Manapparai Road and in close proximity to the Our Lady of Healer Parish Church, it serves as a central hub for provincial coordination.
